Stuck

This week I spoke with Janet about how stuck she feels in her life. It seems that her life is at the mercy of her ex-husband, and the courts, and everything outside of her.

Honestly, she feels a little hopeless.

As I listened to Janet it was so clear to me that she’s feeling totally powerless to her circumstances. It seems to her that the only way she can be okay is if things go a certain way. And for things to go a certain way, she has to control what everyone else does.

No wonder she’s feeling so hopeless. Can you relate?

Whatever is happening that’s outside of your control, doesn’t get to determine how your life turns out. It doesn’t determine how you feel and it certainly doesn’t determine what’s possible for you.

YOU CREATE YOUR LIFE. I promise you that.

What if that’s really true? What if you determine your life no matter what? What’s possible then?

Think about it.

a plan

It’s your *Think it Thursday* and a plan.

How often do you plan your time?

Do you love to plan? Hate to plan? Fight against it? Feel restricted?

I can relate to all of these statements to be honest.

Planning and organizing my life is not something that comes naturally to me.
I crave order and systems, and yet I fight against it.

But, I’m doing it anyway.

As I’ve been planning more, here’s what I’ve found:

Planning never seems exciting, but I do it anyway. (and feel awesome afterward)

When I have a plan, I waste less time.
When I plan my “do nothing time,” I enjoy that time much more.

Planning makes my life easy.
Planning takes the weight of worry off my shoulders.

When I say, “I’m too busy to plan or be organized” – I’m wrong.

Planning is the remedy to busyness.

you’re going to be okay

*Think it Thursday* and you’re going to be okay –

Today’s one of those days that I’m getting personal.

I’m speaking to those of you who feel you’re in a dark place, stuck, and wondering how you will make it through whatever challenge you are facing.

You may be feeling fear and worry that things won’t get better in your life.

I know just how you feel.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I’ve been redesigning my life and creating a new normal over the last few years as I’m navigating life as a single mom. I’ve been managing the ups and downs of chronic fatigue and trying to keep the faith that it will get better.

I’ve been forging ahead and yet – I’m sort of breathing a sigh of relief lately.  I feel that sense of, wow I made it through – and I’m still standing.  I’m still moving forward.

I remember feeling so much fear and experiencing deep sadness.
I remember so much uncertainty and wishing it would all just go away.

I’ve been putting one foot in front of the other and it wasn’t until recently that I had an appreciation for how much I’ve come through and what I’ve overcome.  Not because of me, but because of the possibilities that life allows us.

Within you is the ability to overcome every challenge in front of you.  Even when it’s not easy.

And believe me – it never feels easy.

If you’re reading this and feeling that you can’t keep going– I understand.
If you’re wondering if you’ll make it through – I understand.
If you’re thinking the end of this challenge should be sooner rather than later – I totally understand.

And yet I promise you – you can handle this challenge in front of you.

You are capable, and you are strong.

You were designed to overcome this challenge.

Your faith, your strength, and your courage will come together as a force of nature.  You’ll do it.  I promise.

Sending you extra love today.

Have a great day, one thought at a time!

Xoxo

God has you covered

It’s your *Friday Love Note* because you deserve it –

My son’s church leader reached out to me this week to talk about the upcoming lesson…
It’s all about the “ideal” family.
Ugh. Sigh.

I know how painful this topic is for my clients. I know how painful it is for my kids.
I know how painful it was for me, for so many years.
I’m guessing… it might be painful for you too.

When you hear all about the “ideal” family, it’s easy to interpret your life as a sad state.
It’s easy to believe that happiness, true and ultimate happiness, is outside of the realm of possibilities for you.
You may feel inadequate, or think that your situation is inadequate to be able to provide you all the happiness you want.

I disagree.

I believe that God has you covered. No matter your situation or circumstance – God always makes up the difference. Your life doesn’t look like the white picket fence, but every blessing, every happiness, and every ounce of progress is possible for you.

No one has the “ideal.”
We don’t control the choices of others.
And it was never supposed to be that way.
Life is messy. People are human. Things are never picture perfect.

It doesn’t matter – God has you covered.

Have an amazing weekend- you deserve it.

this is so much fun

It’s your *Think it Thursday* and this is so much fun!

Have I mentioned lately the importance of doing fun things in your life?

I used to think that was so frivolous.
I used to think, “Must be nice…. But I don’t have the time.”

The truth is- there is too little time in life NOT to have fun.

This week I started a new practice of writing down all the fun things I’ve built into my week and posting it by my bed. I see it every morning and every night. And every time I walk by.

My life is busy. 3 kids, my business, and all the craziness of life that creeps into the day.

But when I see that list, I get excited about all of those little things.

It might be a phone call you plan to have with a friend. Or picking up your favorite shampoo that’s on sale at Beauty Brands. Maybe it’s date night, or a walk, or choosing a paint color for your bedroom.

List everything you want to feel excited about.

Think about those things all through the week.

It’s magical.

Have a great day, one thought at a time!
